My name is Steve Vanik and I have been teaching scuba since 1975 when I graduated from the "Greenhouse", the NASDS Instructor's College in San Diego, CA. My wife Patty has been teaching scuba since 1984. Considering the average length of time a dive instructor lasts in the dive business, this means we've been around for a long time.

I opened Blue Water Scuba in Dania, Florida in 1980, later moving to the city of Hollywood. A few years ago after experiencing numerous break-ins exasperated by slow response times from police to the alarms, I decided to retire from the enormity of running a brick and mortar retail dive store/school in favor of an internet based business. (Break into this you bastards!) This also enables Patty and I to "have a life" and to teach scuba classes away from the insanity that takes place in most of the commercial dive industry here in southeast Florida.

So we made the transition from dive "store/school" to just dive "school" for these reasons, although we continue to offer many other important services besides classes for divers who complete their training programs with us.

On our web site you will find information about our dive classes and services, some useful links, and some game collection photos we've collected over the years. One of these days I plan to put up a more extensive photo gallery of our other diving activities from over the years as well.
